Test for developed COVID-19 immunity

Find out now if you have been exposed to COVID-19. The Covid Rapid Test App can tell you if your symptoms correspond to COVID-19, or if you have had a past exposure and recovered, developing temporal immunity. Antibody testing is curcial to safely end the lockdown!

Why is it important to test?

Rapid diagnostics performed within 48h of the onset of symptoms can give important information to help contain COVID-19. Regular testing can help you take precautions to prevent passing the disease on to family members or coworkers. The Covid Rapid Test App helps to give you peace of mind, to manage self-isolation, and to give you certainty on when it is safe to interact with others without putting them at risk. Most importantly, the app can tell you wether you have developed temporal immunity. Find out more about the advantages of serological tests in Patel et al, 2020, and why monitoring sero conversion is important in Larremore et al, 2020.

Should you test?

  •    The Covid Rapid Test App helps you and healthcare professionals to interpret rapid diagnostic test results to tell whether you have COVID-19 or have previously been exposed to COVID-19 and to track disease progression over time.
  •   The Covid Rapid Test App works in combination with a simple blood fingerstick you can do at home or in your physician's office.
  •   The Covid Rapid Test App can be calibrated to work with any certified serological rapid test strip available.

How does it work?

These tests use blood, taken from your finger with a sterile lancet, to detect antibodies that develop following exposure to the COVID-19 virus. Two of the major antibodies produced in the body by the immune system's response are detected. These antibodies are detectable when the symptoms of COVID-19 appear and persist after symptoms have disappeared. Recent research from Adams et al, 2020 has shown that Lateral Flow Tests for immunity have acceptable sensitivity and specificity compared to the laboratory gold standards. Enhanced with an app reading they can substitue laboratories for massive testing.

Testing Steps

Draw a drop of blood using a lancet. Deposit the blood droplet into the sample collector. Add the buffer solution to the sample area. Wait 15 minutes for the test to develop. Two lines appear showing the antibodies detected. Finally, digitize the test with the app for interpretation.

What can the app tell me?

The Covid Rapid Test App helps you interpret the results of your fingerstick blood test. It can tell you whether you have or have had a COVID-19 infection after the onset of symptoms. It also helps you track your tests over time and determine key events in the progress of the infection, if any, and if temporal immunity has been developed. Finally, it helps you protect everyone around you by knowing your status and optionally allows you to contribute to outbreak tracking and management in your area.

The disease progression

Antibodies are not detectable during the incubation period of the virus. During this time, the RNA qPCR test is a better screening tool. The two antibodies measured by the Covid Rapid Test App typically appear along with symptoms of COVID-19. One of these antibodies (IgG) remains in the immune memory for up to several months after recovery.

Why is it important to monitor the progress?

If you have been in close contact with a COVID-19 confirmed case, the App will help you know whether and when you were exposed. This helps you know who may be at risk of contracting COVID-19 following contact with you. Importantly, it can help healthcare providers to act on time and with the most up-to-date information if you choose to share your anonymized test data.

What else can the app do?

The Covid Rapid Test App also asks relevant screening questions about symptoms. Combining these questions with real test results can give a better overview of the risk. Besides, it can help you help local authorities provide the required measures as efficiently as possible to you and others around you.

Data Security and Encryption

The Covid Rapid Test App and technology infrastructure is highly scalable and can be deployed in multiple cloud solutions. Our solution is GCP compliant and GDPR compliant. Immediate situational notifications can be sent, while preserving anonymity.

What is the testing principle?

First, the tests detect the levels of IgG and IgM antibodies in blood by lateral flow immunoassay. These are produced by the body's immune response to SARS-CoV-2 infection. Second, the app takes a reading of the antibody levels from the test result lines on the test strip, the proprietary Colorimetrix® software and helps to interpret the results with semi-quantitative accuracy in order to determine the stage of COVID-19. You can read more about test specificity in Li et al, 2020 and test antigens in Lv et al, 2020.

The App readout

The App guides you through the readout of the test results. It clearly explains what the results mean and how to interpret them. The app utilizes state-of-the-art algorithms of the Colorimetrix® core reading technology.

Antibodies in blood

The IgM antibody is produced after incubation in the early stages of the symptoms and tells us whether there is a current infection. The IgG antibody tells us whether long term immune protection may be present in the later stages of infection and after recovery. You can read more about antibody responses to SARS-CoV-2 in Woelfel et al, 2020 and Zhao et al, 2020

In comparison with qPCR RNA tests, which require extensive laboratory equipment to run, antibody-based tests can be performed at the point of care, either at home, in your physician’s office while you wait, or at a specialized healthcare clinic. RNA tests are useful for screening before symptoms appear, and during active infections. Antibody-based tests, in contrast, can detect whether an exposure occurred in the past or if there is a current infection after the incubation phase, regardless of the presence of symptoms.

  • Digital guidance on test interpretation
  • Read and interpret results within 15 min
  • Home or office based, no laboratory required
  • Room temperature transport, remote testing
  • Detects "silent" infections without symptoms
  • Detectable post-infection
  • Digital history to monitor progression
  • Monitoring of infected population and effective mitigation

Comparison with the gold standard

On their own, rapid antibody-based tests can be difficult to interpret, and can only give qualitative readouts. That is why we created the Covid Rapid Test App. Not as a substitute for qPCR testing, but as an alternative. Remember that no diagnostic test is 100% accurate, a confirmatory diagnostic test should always be considered.

How can I help?

We need your support to deploy the tests to as many citizens as possible, and as soon as possible. We need your help to contact government officials, investors, test manufacturers and decision makers to bring accurate testing to everyone. We are still assessing the quality and validity of different test manufacturers and contacting clinical partners to begin evaluation studies. If you can help, please send us an email.
